Mt. Kilimanjaro Itineraries

= MACHAME ROUTE - 6 Days / 5 Nights

= MARANGU ROUTE - 6 Days /5 Nights

= LEMOSHO ROUTE - 9 Days/ 8 Nights

= RONGAI ROUTE - 6 Days/ 5 Nights

MACHAME ROUTE - 6 Days / 5 nights:

Day 1:  Depart for the gate and start walking through the mountain forest to Machame hut (about 3000 m) for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: After breakfast slowly trek the path leading up through the steep rocky and enjoy superb views of Shira Plateau and land below. You will also see Mt. Meru another exiting volcano on the southwestern direction. Have dinner and overnight at Shira Hut (3840 m).

Day 3: Depart Shira in the morning taking the path, which rises up, gradually towards the Kibo dome. On reaching the wedge Buttress point the path drop down to the Baranco Hut for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Depart slowly crossing the floor of the great Baranco Valley and up to the Baranco wall. You will continue with the trek on the South circuit path through the Karanga Valley.  (Last water point - Karanga River) then slowly trek to Barafu Hut (4600 m).  From Barafu you will have excellent views of Kibo dome and Mawenzi peak, dinner and overnight at Barafu hut.

Day 5: Early mid night start to conquer the highest point in Africa.  This section of the route is very steep and is considered the steepest on the non technical path on this mountain between 4-7 hours to the peak (5896 m) whereby is one hours from Stella point (5700 m).  Then descend down to Mweka hut for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: This is the easiest day walking to Mweka gate where you will meet the car waiting to transfer you to your hotel.

MARANGU - 6 Days /5 Nights:

Day 1:  Drive to Marangu gate where the walk will begin through a thick rain forest which takes about four hours to Mandara Hut (2750 m) for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: After breakfast proceed slowly following a trek through the forest and then through the savanna bush to Horombo Hut (3489 m) for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: This is a day of acclimatization (a rest day) to allow time to explore an interesting area and increase the chance of making to the peak and return to Horombo for an overnight.

Day 4: A hard days climb to Kibo Hut (4703 m about 6 - 7 hours) crossing the barren sub-Alpine terrain of the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks.  You will need to relax on arrival as the next stage begins shortly after midnight. 

Day 5: You will start early at around 1.00a.m, following the zigzag path up the screen stopping frequently to catch a breath in this starlit air.  This is the steepest and most demanding section of the climb, five hours to Gillmans point 5681m to see sunrise behind Mawenzi, illuminating the plains. You will then walk a further 45 minutes around the crater and up to the highest point UHURU peak the summit of Africa.

Day 6: It is a much easier day as you have the luxury of walking downhill on the way to the waiting vehicle at Marangu gate for transfer to Arusha.

LEMOSHO ROUTE - 9 Days/ 8 Nights:

Day 1: Drive to Mto Simba where walking will start in one hour, dinner and overnight at Shira II Campsite. (3800 m)

Day 2: This is acclimatization day; here you will observe Shira plateau and Shira valleys. Have dinner and overnight Shira II Campsite.

Day 3: After breakfast trek to the Moir hut (about 4200 m) for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: After breakfast slowly ascend from Moir hut to Lava Tower.

Day 5: You will continue to trek and descend to Baranco hut (3990 m).

Day 6: After breakfast proceed with the trek to the great Baranco valley and up to Baranco wall then to Karanga valley (about 4200 m) for dinner and overnight. 

Day 7: From Karanga Valley (the end of water source Karanga river) proceed to Barafu hut (4600 m) for dinner and overnight where you will have excellent views of Kibo dome & Mawenzi peak.

Day 8: Around midnight starts to conquer the highest point of Africa . RONGAI ROUTE - 6 Days/ 5 nights:

Day 1:  Transfer to Rongai gate where you will meet the guide who will be waiting for you. You will then start trekking towards cave 1 for dinner and overnight. Wild animals can be seen e.g. Lion, Buffalo, Elephant.

Day 2: After breakfast start trekking slowly across moorland trees with herds of buffaloes, elephants etc and then proceed to cave 3 for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: After breakfast trek to Kibo hut for dinner and overnight. Crossing the saddle view of Mawenzi hut and Lake Challe.

Day 4: Around midnight start trek towards the Peak following the zigzag path up the screen stopping frequently to catch a breath in this starlit air. This is the steepest and most demanding section of the climb 5hrs to Gillman's point to see the sunrise behind Mawenzi illuminating the plain. You will then walk further for 45min around the crater and up to the highest point -UHURU peak the summit of Africa.

Day 5: This is a much easier day as you will have the luxury of walking down hill on your way to Mandara hut for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: After breakfast at leisure walk to the waterfalls through thick rain forest and walk to the gate where you will meet our vehicle waiting for transfer to the Hotel.
